MODA Final

Here's a final digital version of the MODA project by Andrea and I. It was a very challenging project and we both had fun doing it.  We are very thankful to be given this project and are happy with the final outcome of the project.

Week Eight: Checking In

Each week I feel as though I must check in at this website by Andrew Kim, Minimally Minimal is a really good site for inspirations, Andrew is an excellent blogger and his insights on industrial designs is something I feel very familiar with.

Week Seven: Inspired by Doing

I recently subscribed to Communication Arts through a friends referral and I was really satisfied with the magazine, it's well-designed and it offers different mediums of artistic inspirations. Below are few of the images that inspires me to create new designs.

Week Six: Personal Workspace

Here is a picture of my main workstation, its where most of my creativity starts. It ranges from sketching to photography.

This is my second table, where I kept most my books. I like having these books because it help me break through that creative block.

This is my third station, where all my sketches and photos convert into digital format.

Week Five: Block of Type

I recently embark on a type hunt journey in Decatur square. Decatur square is a city block within Atlanta that maintains a very traditional and engaging environment. Here are some of the typography I found while strolling through the area.

Week 4: Art and Design Inspires

When it comes to design inspirations, I often look at websites that are graphic design related. But sometimes, I look for inspirations from culinary and industrial design. The reason is that it enhance other senses of your body besides visual.

Culinary is a great design experience because it enables design from taste and smell. I often look at recipes online and either replicate it or switch it up by incorporating other ingredients. Below is a picture of the stromboli recipe that I follow in which I use other ingredients.

Often I look at industrial design because it helps me think of design in a three-dimensional way, one of the blogs I follow is minimallyminimal by Andrew Kim.

Illustrative Typeface

Currently I am experimenting with two illustrative typefaces, one is using waffle cone batter and the other one is using computer parts, here is my progress so far.

Week 3: Trends in Graphic Design

Trends are important to know when it comes to graphic design, especially in this time period where technology are so versatile that it's almost impossible to outrun it. And as graphic designers, we need to keep up with the trend so we don't fall behind.

There are several major trends right now, flat design and paper experimentation.

For flat design, it's most noticeable in apple's new iOS software.

Paper is one of the most important tools for graphic designers and I feel like we have been experimenting with paper textures and it's versatility. I remember seeing an post where the paper itself makes noises when temper with such as fire and thunder.

Week One: Best Five

Here are a few of my favorite projects and designs from last year.

Best Coast concert poster
The concept behind this poster was to incorporate the surf esthetic of the band with the sunset and waves.

B0D0N7 type promotion
B0D0N7 was a type promotion project for the typeface Bodoni, I use 007 as the subject because the thin and thick strokes in Bodoni matches with the charm and deadly characteristic of James Bond.

Expressive Type poster
I really enjoyed this expressive type poster because it was really fun and intriguing to combine two quotes.

TrendTech Solutions logo
The rebranding of the TrendTech Solution logo was to implement this style of professional business style of the company. Most computer repair shop logos are of texts, I design this logo to show that it can be use for this type of business.

TrendTech Solution mailer
The mailer was one of my favorite projects because I had a really hard time figuring out the special mailer for a computer repair shop. But when I came across these crafty videos of pop up mailers on youtube, I came up with the idea of a virus surprise and awareness mailer for it.
